Development and implementation of quality standard framework for TDS Centres in Europe

Objectives

  • To develop, test and implement a Total Quality Management (TQM) System for TDS in Europe in order to improve the quality of data and comparability between countries for use by risk assessors and managers
  • To set up a TDS centre network in Europe
  • To develop a list of TDS concepts and associated terms to ensure a common language and consequent understanding within and among countries
  • To develop a framework of quality tools including SOP’s to ensure data reliability and comparability across Europe and over time
  • To identify Critical Control Points in the overall TDS process that may be a source of artefactual variations in data

WP 5 is led jointly by IFR and INSA and interact closely with all WPs. The overall quality framework will be based on the EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) approach to Total Quality Management for the organization and running of TDS. The TDS Centre network will be based initially on representatives from Anses (FR), BfR(G), NIPH/SZU (CZ), HAH (HR), UGent (BE), PVD (LV), EVIRA (FI), NFA (SW), MATIS (IC), NFNI/IZZ (PL), TUBITAK MAM (TR), INSA (PT) & IFR (UK) comprising of centres that already conduct TDS and those in the process of setting up schemes.

Workpackage leader: Institute of Food Research (UK) and Instituto de Saude Dr Ricardo Jorge (PT)
